For some years now, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has been on the forefront in the struggle for the creation of a sovereign state. With the absence of Nnamdi Kanu, its leader, during the time of Operation Python Dance, as well as the branding of the group as a terrorist organization, many believe the end is near for the group. But in this email interview with TheCable, Emma Powerful, spokesman of IPOB, said contrary to such belief, the group is more formidable now than it has ever been. Eniola Akinkuotu,  Abuja Amid growing calls for secession, the United States Ambassador to  Nigeria , Stuart Symington, says Nigerians who preach unity will overcome those calling for secession. Symington said this in a speech at an event held in commemoration of the 241st anniversary of American  independence  in Abuja on Thursday. The US envoy said his country and Nigeria shared many similarities, most notably, diversity. He said the first American President, George Washington, had warned that those who seek to weaken a country would always seek to start by causing disunity. Even Nigerian ASUU president DR Isa Fagae and others were busy organizing campaigns for free Western Sahara state, forgotten that they have a more serious case in their back yard (Biafra state) ohhh! They too are now funding, supporting, sponsoring, campaigning and calling for self-determination of both Palestinian Western Sahara and Biafra. Years of agitations, claims and counter claims, as well as invectives, even from erstwhile respected statesmen were bound to strain the fragile bond between the constituent nationalities of this country. Recent activities of the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and various notices for Nigerians to quit parts of the country issued by different groups from the North, South-West and the Niger Delta are as deplorable as they are lethal to the peaceful existence of Nigeria.
